Why Durioo+ launched a new application?

Note: This answer is from the Founder and CEO of Durioo+.

The old application used the Vimeo system.

Advantages of Vimeo:

Vimeo is stable.

It was easy for Durioo+ to launch a video platform initially, allowing the Durioo+ team to focus first on content.

Many ready-made functions such as Chromecast and viewing on Samsung TV.

Disadvantages of Vimeo:

Vimeo is not built for children. Many parents provided feedback that the UI/UX is not easy for their children.

Bug fixes sometimes take months to resolve.

It is designed for adults; there are no features for children.

Vimeo has no plans to develop apps for LG TV and other TVs.

We cannot incorporate child and parent features such as a lock timer, filter by age, filter by language, filter by channels, autoplay, AI, and many more.

The shortcomings of Vimeo will cause Durioo+ to be 'stuck' and unable to produce a better app and experience for users. Our intention is to be the best app for Muslim children—a platform that we truly control and can modify, improve, and fix bugs on our own—to fully achieve the mission of Building a Faithful, Moral, and Knowledgeable Ummah.

Therefore, the Durioo+ team has agreed to develop a new in-house Durioo+ app that can include the best features for children.

Why is Durioo+ in a hurry to launch a new imperfect application?

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Similarly, the Prophet Muhammad's efforts to spread Islam were not successful in a day or even a year. Creating a successful product or service takes time. Mistakes and errors will occur. No business, product, or service is perfect at launch—consider the iPhone 1, Tesla Roadster, Netflix, and many others. A good product will undergo many phases of improvement over time. InshaAllah, this is our promise.

Advice from YC - Launch Fast, Launch Early.

Who is YC (Y Combinator)? YC is the number one startup accelerator in the world. Alhamdulillah, Durioo+ was accepted into YC Winter 2022 (out of over 17,000 submissions, only 400 were accepted, and we were one of them). Some of the startups that have been accepted by YC include Airbnb, Dropbox, Stripe, Reddit, Instacart, and many more.

Why does YC advise to Launch Fast, Launch Early?

Because they know that a good application is not built from internal thinking alone. YC's experience shows that applications that launch fast and early receive a lot of user feedback. This feedback is used to continuously improve, add features, and enhance the application until it becomes something users really love.

There are many cases where large companies conduct R&D and invest millions to produce a product they internally think is the best, but when launched, the application does not succeed.

We apologize if our application is not yet perfect, but we promise to strive to produce the best application and improve every day and every week (except during the Eid holidays 🙂). InshaAllah.

Why Durioo+ launched an application with many bugs.

This is not our intention. Believe us. No developer or company wants to launch a product that has many bugs.

However, the reality is that even companies with dozens and hundreds of developers also face bugs.

Why is that? Because the applications that are produced have maybe been tested on 15-20 devices. However, in the market, there are over 2700 Android TVs and Android Boxes and more than 10,000 types of Android Phones. Some brands of devices have different hardware and software, which can cause bugs to occur.

Any developer will say - Bugs will always be there; what's important is that we quickly resolve them. The same goes for us at Durioo+, every day we work to fix bugs and strive to improve the new Durioo+ application.

Can Durioo+ be watched on TV?

Currently, the Durioo+ app can be viewed on:

  • Android TV (Google Certified) and Android Box (Google Certified)

  • Apple TV, Google TV, and selected Samsung TVs.

  • Android Box (Only Google Certified, such as Mi Box, UNIFI TV). You can view the full list through the following link:

Why can't my Android Box or Android TV watch Durioo+?

Android boxes like Long TV, SVI Cloud 8S, and many Android boxes purchased from Shopee or Lazada (especially those pre-installed with free IPTV) are not included in the list of Google Certified Android Boxes and Android TVs.

We apologize for any shortcomings, but from our side, we are unable to do anything to fix our app to work with non-Google Certified Android Boxes or Android TVs.

Durioo+ developers must follow the systems and procedures set by Google and Android.

However, apps like Netflix, YouTube, and other streaming applications work on my Android Box (Long TV). Why can't Durioo+?

It's highly likely that either the Android Box has old streaming apps installed (which are compatible with that system) or the Android Box has been jailbroken.

Why could I watch on Long TV before but not with the new app?

The new app is built on a new infrastructure from Google and is not compatible with devices that are not Google Certified.

My Android Phone, Android Box and Android TV are Google Certified. But There Are Still Problems.

Since the launch of the Durioo+ App, we have been constantly updating the Durioo+ app with bug fixes, improvements, and updates.

How to ENSURE you get the latest update?

Please make sure you follow both METHODS A, B, and C.

METHOD A

  • Open the Durioo+ app.

  • Go to Settings ⚙️ (the gear icon at the top right of your app).

  • On the Settings screen, click on 'Check for latest update'.

  • Install the latest update.

  • Restart the app.

METHOD B

  • You need to restart the Durioo+ app.

  • For Some Android Devices:

    • Close the app and open it again - this restarts the app.

METHOD C

  • You need to restart the Durioo+ app.

  • For Some Android Devices:

    • When you turn off the TV or the app (it just sleeps, it doesn't restart),

    • You need to restart your device to ensure the Durioo+ app also restarts (shut down the device and turn it back on).

InshaAllah, after the update and restart, you will receive the latest Durioo+ update which includes many bug fixes and updates.

If the problem still occurs, please try METHOD D:

  • Uninstall the Durioo+ app.

  • Reinstall the Durioo+ app.

How to Watch Durioo+ on a Smart Phone

Ensure your device's Operating System (OS) first.

For Android Tablets: Minimum Android version 8 or newer.

For iPads: Minimum iOS version 13 or newer. Examples include:

iPhone 6 Plus S, iPhone SE, iPhone 7/7 Plus, iPhone 8/8 Plus, iPhone X, and any model newer than these.

Then,

Download the Durioo+ app through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Sign in using the email you registered with, and enter the OTP received via email.

How to Watch Durioo+ on Tab / iPad

Ensure your device's Operating System (OS) first.

How to Watch Durioo+ on Laptop / Computer

Durioo+ has now adopted a new system that uses an OTP (One Time Password) instead of a traditional password.

Here’s how you can get the OTP:

Open the latest version of the Durioo+ app on your smartphone/tablet/TV.

Log in to your account (Click "Subscribe Now" and you can log in from there).

Obtain the OTP from the email used for subscription.

Has the Durioo+ app already added the 'cast screen' feature?

Alhamdulillah, our team has now implemented the 'cast screen' feature on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets that use Android or iOS.

Here's how:

  1. Select the video you want to watch on your smartphone/tablet.

  2. Tap the cast screen button in the top right corner and connect it to your TV.

I have subscribed but can't open Durioo+ on Samsung TV or Web.

For your information, Durioo+ has transitioned to a new application system that is not yet fully compatible with Samsung TV and web systems.

Facing technical problems during purchase?

Can payments be made using methods other than debit/credit cards?

There's also a possibility that you might have made an accidental error when entering your email, such as a spelling mistake (for example, typing ".com" as ".con").

I Can't Login To Durioo+ After A Successful Purchase?

Before you can start watching Durioo+, you need to obtain an OTP (One Time Password) from the email registered with your account. Please follow the steps below:

Regarding Subscription Cancellation Application Via Website

To cancel a subscription made through the website, the cancellation request must be submitted at least 48 hours before the next charge is due. This ensures that the cancellation is processed in time to prevent further billing.

After Canceling the Subscription, Can I Still Watch Durioo+?

After canceling your subscription for any type of plan, you will still be able to access Durioo+ until the end of the current subscription period. The subscription will remain active for the duration of the package purchased (1, 3, 6, or 12 months), whether used or not.


Regarding Durioo+ Functions

Can Durioo+ Autoplay?

Yes, Durioo+ has an Autoplay feature. After a video ends, the next video will play automatically.

Can Durioo+ Be Used On More Than One Device?

Yes, Durioo+ can be used on 3 different devices simultaneously.

You just need to log in using your email and enter the OTP sent to your registered email. If you want to watch on a fourth device, you need to log out from one of the previous devices first.

Can Durioo+ be Watched on 'Car Player'?

No, Durioo+ cannot be played on 'car player'.
